12 Weeks

Compliments of my in-laws, Ben & Mary, we got this ESSENTIAL saucer for Rhett. He may not be showing any signs or interest in trying to roll over or crawl, but MAN does he want to stand and be sat up! We often prop him on the couch with a couple of pillows (or in the corner of the arm of the couch and the couch) to sit him up, but his is a FAR better approach. This was the first time I put Rhett in the saucer and he seemed to really enjoy it. And a BONUS: he's starting to show interest in toys!

My grandpa came to spend the day with John, Rhett and I and he brought this adorable talking dog that looks like it will help a child learn "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" as well as other fun songs. Anyway, I put it in front of Rhett and at first he really like it, but after about 10 minutes, no more interset! So these are pictures of the FIRST ten minutes when he was enjoying the dog.

Stuffed Animals (11 Weeks)

Rhett is really starting to enjoy the environment around him. Here are some pictures of him interacting with the many stuffed animals that he has been given. Don't worry, he doesn't sleep with all the stuff animals. They stay in his crib and he is still sleeping in a bassenett in our room.

PS -- Don't you love his shirt?!

Favorite Blanket

Monica gave me a fleece blanket for Rhett before he was born, hoping that he might choose it as a favorite because of it's softness. Well, I think that Rhett chose it! We were getting ready to leave on a business trip and we had Rhett in his crib with some of his toys while we finished packing. This is what we found when we came to check on him a few minutes later!

First Easter (10 Weeks)

This was a picture of Rhett Easter morning as he sat and waited for me to find my Easter basket. He was laughing at my effort!

John's family has a tradition that we have carried on into our own family. The Easter bunny, not only comes, but he hides the Easter baskets for us to find... We started off easy by hiding Rhett's basket in his car seat under a blanket. Here is a picture of Rhett "finding" it!

Rhett's first Easter Egg hunt

Every year, John's parents host an Easter egg hunt for all the grand kids and some of the cousins on the in laws' side if they have no where to go. Everyone has a list that they can only take what's on the list so there is enough for everyone.John and I helped hide the treats but it didn't much matter because we had to get a picture next to every "find" so we were actually one of the last to finish the hunt.

Right before the hunt began.
Rhett got a rattle on the hunt. One day he will be interested in them! Though Rhett couldn't eat it, he got his share of candy on this hunt as well. We just turned around and incorporated it into our Easter baskets. John and I discovered, we didn't need to buy candy for Easter this year. We got plenty from this hunt! John and Rhett are picking up a taffy from the grass.
This was the one moment we caught Rhett interested in the egg hunt... we stuck him next to a book on the hunt and he looked at it.

Sunglasses were one of the items on the Easter egg hunt. John "borrowed" another pair he found on the hunt so we could take this picture. Then he put the sunglass back for someone else to find.

Rhett and John with the completed Easter gifts from the hunt.

I wonder who was having more fun... John or Rhett?!

In the end, we discovered that Rhett figured out how to suck his thumb. Could tell he was REALLY excited about the Easter Egg hunt...

Dying Easter Eggs

Dying Easter eggs was not very climatic for Rhett (better luck next year), but alas, we didn't want to miss out on the Easter fun with it being his first Easter and all... PLUS, I needed pictures to scrapbook! Maybe next year, he won't sleep through it!
We wanted to show that Rhett was VERY involved in the Easter egg dying... (he woke up after we finished, so we had to get some pictures of Rhett with the Easter eggs-- good thing they were hard-boiled!)

Meeting Great Grandpa Vern

My grandpa (on my mom's side) is one of my favorite people in the world. He and his wife are in Utah for the month and they stopped by our house to meet Rhett and give him his Easter gifts from them.

Ready for a Diaper Change?

You think Rhett wants a diaper change?!

Sitting Up

Rhett does not like to be lying down if he is awake. If he had his way, he'd probably already be walking! He has a great desire to sit up, but the balancing part becomes part of the problem. The compromise is propping him up with a pillow on a cushy arm chair. He was a fan as you can see from the smiles.

St. Louis Arch (9 Weeks)

We are in St. Louis for a scrapbook show and we couldn't pass the opportunity to go to the Gateway Arch today. Rhett had a great time. We took quite a few pictures and they are posted at http://picasaweb.google.com/sareeah/RhettPerryButler02?feat=directlink
John, Rhett and I waiting to go up in the clastophobic shaft that will take us to the top of the arch.

A great picture of daddy and Rhett in the Gateway Arch parkway ... before it started to RAIN.

All in all the arch was a great place to visit!
