Camera Happy

So, you can totally tell I'm a new mom with all the pictures I take of my little boy. Also, my parents can't say I don't post enough for them to see how Rhett is developing! Anyway, I had Rhett in his bassenet today and he was grinning away, so I grabbed the camera... of course, THEN he decided he didn't want to smile anymore. At any rate, here are a few pictures of Rhett.

NUK and Sleeping with Mommy

This picture I took with my cell phone and just thought it was a really cute picture of my little man!

So last, now that Rhett is a LITTLE older, he's sleeping a little less now and is a LITTLE more cranky -- if he's not being held. He is three and a half weeks old and already has me wrapped around his little finger! I decided last weekend that I needed to get him a nuk and he took right to it! :) I think we are all fans of the nuk -- now if only Rhett could figure out how to KEEP it in his mouth!

A week after Rhett was born, John had to go away on a business trip and left me at home to care for Rhett. Having a bed all to myself, I was too lazy to get up in the night to tend to Rhett, so I just had him sleep in my bed so I didn't have to get up to feed him, etc. Well, turns out he was a HUGE fan of that idea. In fact, he liked it so much, he slept through the night and only woke up twice to feed (granted I don't get him to bed until after midnight). And now, two weeks later, I still struggle to get him to sleep in his bassinet until the wee hours of the morning when I get up to work on homework. Actually, I don't think it's the bed so much as the fact that he gets to snuggle up to his mommy. Last night, I decided he'd probably sleep if I layed him next to me on the bed while I worked on homework. Well, Rhett had something else planned. He actually wouldn't settle down until I put all my homework away and layed down NEXT to him... the little stinker!. Anyway, I have included a picture of us sleeping on the couch. I was working on homework while John was playing a computer game with his friends (they do it once week -- kind of like a "poker night" except with video games over the internet), and alas, my exhaustion took over and I fell asleep. Well, John found me and decided to get out the camera and start snapping! I look awful when I sleep, but it's amazing how peaceful Rhett is when he's sleeping next to his mommy. He also likes snuggling with daddy too. He doesn't that many mornings after I get up to work on homework.

3 Weeks Old

So, it has been three weeks and the adjustment to Rhett at home has been enjoyable for the most part. He's an extremely happy child that doesn't cry all that often. For the most part, Rhett is curious at his surroundings (or the blurriness that he sees when he tries to take them in). He's also ticklish and smiles and is learning to laugh. Everyone that holds him comments on how much he skirms, but I believe that is no more than what he did in the womb -- he always seemed to be kicking! Here is a picture taken this morning.

Wii Fit

So yesterday, John went out of town on a business trip to Southern California. Since Rhett sleeps nearly all day, I thought it would be a perfect time to study for some upcoming exams... EXCEPT that Rhett would not let me put him down. It was really too cold to do anything like a walk, nor did I really feel up to it, but when I finally got him to sleep (for like five minutes), I pulled out Wii Fit for me to track my weight loss and get a little work out. Well, as soon as I flipped it on, Rhett woke up again and so I had this amazing idea to do the step arobics holding Rhett. IT WORKED. He fell right to sleep after a couple of times... and I got a bonus workout doing it while holding "weight" in my arms! Better yet, last night was the first night he SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT! That was excellent for me because I started getting sick -- probably from lack of sleep and then not napping during the day (going to classes instead). Anyway, I wanted to share my joy :)

Rhett is now a week and a half old and John's mom tells me his looks are changing and he's beginning to look a lot like me, but I can't tell -- I with him all the time! Plus, neither John nor I have baby pictures of ourselves to compare him too. He is smiling at me though and I'm so GRATEFUL that he is not a "purple crier" or really a crier at all. I think I really lucked out with a well tempered child! In fact, when he's not sleeping, he just lie there staring at nothing at all.

Rhett's personal blog!

So, I'm all about links and separating blogs... I figure eventually, each one of my children will have their own blog page.... anyway, since I'm no longer pregnant, I chose another spot on my blog that specifically hilights Rhett. Especially because he is our first child, we are already camera happy AND we own a scrapbook company, we figure we'll have more than enough pictures to post to fill up this blog!

Today Rhett is 5 days old. He is adjusting to life at home well. Last night I even got more than a couple of hours of sleep! I was super excited to wake up feeling refreshed! I think he finally settled down at 3Am and then slept until about 8:45Am. In fact, when I woke up at 8Am, I jumped up to check to make sure he was still breathing because I couldn't believe he let me sleep that long!

Also, it's a standing joke between the Bleuels (especially Heather and her friends) when we talking about weinesses. So, here is a picture for them!

SUCK MY WEINESS!
